Together with ADRA Indonesia, let’s get to know Disaster Preparedness Day.

Disaster Preparedness Day is a day when the community is prepared and reminded of the importance of readiness in facing natural disasters or other emergencies. On this day, various activities are often carried out such as evacuation drills, emergency action briefings, review of emergency plans, and disaster awareness campaigns. The aim is to increase awareness and preparedness of the community in facing potential disasters and to minimize the risks and losses that may occur.

National Disaster Preparedness Day is on April 26th, 2024, although efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness can take place throughout the year with special events or campaigns at various times. In Indonesia, the commemoration of Disaster Preparedness Day has been carried out since 2017. This year  it adopts a theme “Ready to Survive” with the sub-theme “Resilient Indonesia, Great Indonesia”.

On Indonesia’s Disaster Preparedness Day in 2024, various activities are likely to take place to raise awareness and enhance preparedness for potential disasters. These activities may include evacuation drills, emergency action briefings, review of emergency plans, disaster awareness campaigns, training and workshops, communiy Engagement. Overall, the goal of Indonesia’s Disaster Preparedness Day in 2024 would be to empower individuals and communities to be better prepared for disasters, minimize risks, and enhance overall resilience.
