Aceh Tamiang, December 15
Conditions in Aceh Tamiang remain concerning. Field findings indicate that many basic needs of the affected communities have not yet been met, particularly in the areas of health services, child protection, and essential infrastructure.
Limited health screening services conducted for older persons revealed that average blood pressure levels were significantly high, indicating serious health risks. This situation is further exacerbated by the disruption of health facilities, which has severely limited access to adequate medical care.
Children have also been significantly affected. Schools were submerged by flooding, forcing children to evacuate to temporary shelters. Psychological First Aid was provided as initial support; however, no specific government programs for children were observed at the time of assessment. In several locations, children were seen asking for assistance along roadsides, particularly from vehicles transporting aid into the area.
Basic infrastructure remains compromised. Access to clean water has not yet been restored, and electricity supply remains unstable. Reports from the field indicate that the assistance reaching Aceh Tamiang is still very limited compared to the scale of needs.
Currently, ADRA is supported by two volunteers and two local partners who are accompanying affected communities in Aceh Tamiang. Their presence enables ongoing engagement with the community and supports efforts to better understand the current priority needs, serving as a basis for exploring potential future interventions.
