Mrs. Khadijah (40 years old) is a single parent with a son who is currently in junior high school. She works as a member of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) in Bangga Village. Mrs. Khadijah is actively involved in various activities both within and outside her village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through ADRA\u2019s program, she received training on gender equality, with the hope that after completing the training, she would be able to raise awareness and conduct socialization sessions on gender issues within community groups in the village. Mrs. Khadijah advocates for the village government of Bangga to provide legal recognition to members of the Gender Network, so they can have a legal framework to support their role in promoting gender equality. With a deeper understanding of gender concepts gained from ADRA\u2019s gender equality training, she has become even more active in engaging in activities related to women\u2019s empowerment and child protection, from the village level up to the provincial level in Central Sulawesi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the sub-district level in South Dolo, she was appointed as the Head of the Women\u2019s Empowerment and Child Protection Division. At the district level in Sigi, she serves as a board member of the National People\u2019s Economic Empowerment Institute. Meanwhile, at the provincial level in Central Sulawesi, she was nominated by the Provincial Office for Women\u2019s Empowerment and Child Protection to take part in the national selection for the \u201cWomen of Resilience for Peace\u201d program, an initiative by UN Women Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together with ADRA, Mrs. Khadijah actively conducts gender equality awareness sessions in various community groups in the village. In addition, she has also delivered gender equality awareness campaigns in schools throughout Bangga Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her sessions with women\u2019s groups, she consistently encourages women to speak up and report incidents of violence they may experience. Meanwhile, in her school outreach, she campaigns against child marriage (\u201cStop Early Marriage\u201d) and motivates students to stay focused and pursue their dreams. She hopes that the presence of the Gender Network in the village will help increase the community\u2019s understanding of gender equality, both within the family and in the wider society, so that cases of violence against women and children can be prevented in the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
