Climate change has become a global challenge that affects the environment, economy, and people’s
lives. A strong adaptation strategy is needed to reduce these risks and help communities become
more resilient.
To address this issue, the Government of Indonesia developed the National Action Plan for Climate
Change Adaptation (RAN-API) in 2013. This plan aims to include climate adaptation strategies in the
National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
At the local level, this policy is implemented through the Regional Action Plan for Climate Change
Adaptation (RAD-API). This document serves as a decision-making tool for local governments and
helps integrate climate adaptation into the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) and the
Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the REAF II Project supproted by ADRA Canada and Canadian Foodgrains Bank, ADRA
Indonesia supported the Government of Sigi Regency in developing the Climate Change Adaptation
Document for 2025\u20132029. The process, conducted from April to August 2025 with multi-stakeholder
involvement such as Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Bapperida),
Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Regional Disaster Management Agency
(BPBD), District Health Office (Dinkes), Tadulako University, ADRA, the Disaster Risk Reduction
Forum (PRB), and Gampiri resulted in a document that has been integrated into the RPJMD and
strategic plans down to the village level. Notably, BMKG recognized Sigi as the first district in Central
Sulawesi to establish such a document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The drafting process was undertaken through several stages, including regular meetings of the
drafting team; the first workshop, which aimed to collect information on vulnerabilities, disaster
risks, and the impacts of climate change; the second workshop, which focused on identifying and
prioritizing actions based on the results of the vulnerability analysis; and the third workshop, which
presented the outcomes and finalized the document. In this process, ADRA contributed to
strengthening the institutional capacity of the Sigi Regency Government in preparing the document.
Furthermore, all climate change adaptation best practices generated under the REAF II Project were
systematically documented to enable replication at the district level.
