School Students and Teachers Engage in Disaster Preparedness Workshop and Earthquake Drill

In a dedicated effort to prioritize the safety and well-being of its students and teachers, ADRA was invited by Perguruan Advent 01 Jakarta for a comprehensive disaster preparedness workshop and earthquake drill. The goal was to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively during emergencies, particularly earthquakes. By engaging both students and teachers in this initiative, the school aimed to create a safe environment and instill a sense of confidence in their ability to handle unexpected situations.

The disaster preparedness workshop began with informative presentations by Maria Winerungan (ADRA Staff), who shared insights on disaster preparedness and preventive measures. Participants were educated on establishing communication protocols, emergency kits, and identifying safe spaces within the school. Subsequently, a simulated earthquake drill was conducted, allowing students and teachers to put their knowledge into action by practicing safe evacuation procedures and following established protocols.

Fostering Resilience and Safety By organizing the disaster preparedness workshop and earthquake drill, Perguruan Advent 01 Jakarta demonstrated its commitment to building a resilient community. Engaging students and teachers in these activities not only increased their understanding of emergency preparedness but also emphasized personal responsibility in safeguarding themselves and others during crises. Through regular drills and updated emergency plans, the school administration aims to maintain a safe learning environment and ensure the safety and security of its students and staff in any situation.

The disaster preparedness workshop and earthquake drill at school empowered students and teachers with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies, specifically earthquakes. By promoting safety and fostering a sense of preparedness, the school has taken significant steps towards building a resilient community.

“Thank you ADRA for coming to our school and teaching us disaster preparedness and guiding us to do the earthquake drill. This is so important in building a safe environment within the school and resilient teachers and students.” said Mrs. Roma Simbolon, School Principal.
