The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Indonesia is preparing to launch a national emergency management plan (NEMP) in North Tapanuli to assist hundreds of families, children, and individuals personally affected by an earthquake.
On Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 02.28.41 local time, North Tapanuli of North Sumatra, was rocked by a shallow tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8. The earthquake depth is 10 km. The epicenter of the earthquake is located at coordinates 2.11° North Latitude; 98.83° East Longitude. As of 04.05, Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency recorded that there are 24 (twenty-four) aftershocks with the largest magnitude M5.1 and the smallest magnitude M2.5.
One person was reported dead and 24 others were injured. Nearly a thousand houses and 65 places of worship were damaged. Thousands of people are afraid to live in their damaged houses and choose to build tents in front of their houses or move to public buildings. The urgent needs at this time are clean water, public kitchens, and shelter kits.
Two ADRA staff have deployed to the most affected area and focus on shelter. We are collaborating with local governments and trusted partners to find ways to provide immediate assistance. Volunteers are already working hard to help us gather data and information on the most urgent needs in the most affected areas.
We need your support to help those in need. Please send your donation here https://adraindonesia.org/en/gift-donation/
(Add the code number 7 to the last nominal, for example IDR 500.007).
